Process Overview
Step 1: Consultation
Every great design starts with a conversation. In our initial consultation, we’ll discuss your vision, preferences, and requirements. Whether you’re looking for a custom garment, a specialty project, an alteration, or a repair, I take the time to understand your needs and the specifics of your style. This initial meeting can be conducted virtually, via phone call, or through email, whichever suits your convenience best.
Step 2: Design Conceptualization
Based on our discussion, I will create a detailed sketch of the design. This includes selecting fabrics, colors, and discussing patterns that reflect your personal style. I will provide options and advice to ensure the final product not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
Step 3: Measurements and Patterns
Precision is key, so I’ll take detailed measurements to ensure a perfect fit. For custom designs, I craft a unique pattern that serves as the blueprint for your garment. This step is crucial for ensuring the final piece is tailored to your exact dimensions.
Step 4: Mock-up Creation
Before the final fabric is cut and sewn, I create a mock-up of your garment using cheaper materials. This prototype allows us to adjust the fit and style without compromising the final product. You’ll try on this mock-up, and I’ll make any necessary adjustments to the pattern and fit.
Step 5: Final Garment Construction
With the fit and details finalized, I move on to constructing your garment with the chosen fabrics. This stage is where your garment comes to life, stitched with the utmost attention to detail and quality.
Step 6: Final Fitting and Adjustments
During the final fitting, you’ll try on the completed garment. It’s an opportunity to make minor tweaks to ensure the fit is exactly as you envisioned. This stage is all about perfecting the garment to suit your comfort and style.
Step 7: Completion and Delivery
Once you are completely satisfied, the garment is finished, pressed, and beautifully packaged for you. I ensure timely delivery so you can enjoy wearing your custom-made piece as soon as possible
Step 8: Follow-Up
After you’ve worn your new garment, I like to follow up to ensure everything is to your satisfaction and make note of any adjustments that might be beneficial for future projects.
* Consultations are by appointment, in-home, and in the Salina/Central Kansas Area. This is a basic process overview, and can vary depending on whether you are interested in custom clothing, alterations, mending, or specialty projects.
